UK Trade Groups Advocate for Blockchain Inclusion in U.S. Tech Deal
Lobby groups from the UK's finance and technology sectors are urging the government to prioritize blockchain in an upcoming cooperation agreement with the United States. The push comes ahead of President Donald Trump's state visit to London, where digital assets are expected to feature prominently in discussions.
Over a dozen industry associations, including the UK Cryptoasset Business Council and UK Finance, have warned that excluding blockchain from the UK-US Tech Bridge could marginalize Britain in global financial innovation. "Others—particularly in the Middle East and Asia—are already advancing standards that will define finance's future," their letter stated.
The delegation accompanying Trump includes prominent tech executives like OpenAI's Sam Altman and Nvidia's Jensen Huang, signaling the administration's focus on emerging technologies. While AI and quantum computing are confirmed discussion topics, crypto advocates see an opportunity to cement the UK's position in digital asset leadership.
